It’s Going to be a Hot CAMPUS15 Summer!

This summer, for the first time CAMPUS15 and its partners in Central and Southeast Europe are set to organise and carry out three parallel youth meetings in Germany and the Western Balkans. Finally in September 2009 there will be a GREAT REUNION in Croatia. Its an open seminar event for all participants since 1998

1. CAMPUS15 Summer Camp in KönigswinterAt the end of July, CAMPUS15’s 8th Summer Camp for 35 young people aged 15 to 16 from Bosnia and Hercegovina, Croatia, Montenegro, Poland, Serbia and Germany begins at Malteserhof near Bonn. The ten team counsellors met in late April to devise the camp programme and select the participants out of over 120 applications. These days, the national groups get together for the first time for preparation meetings in their respective home countries. Starting July 22, final preparations will be made at Malteserhof, and on July 25 we’ll have the go for three weeks of outdoor adventures, discussion rounds, media projects, and a lot of games and fun together.

2. Reunion in Serbia
Almost at the same time, the participants of last year’s summer camp in Germany get together again for a reunion in Serbia. The group will spend the first ten days in a tent camp with our Serbian partner and organizer, the Scout Group Remizijana of Bela Palanka. Amongst other things they will be renovating old and building new playground equipment and toys for the local kindergarten together with young people from the town’s Roma minority. Afterwards, the group travels across Serbia to Subotica on the Hungarian boarder. During the final five days there the main topics are media and the exemplary integration of minority groups.

3. Youth Initiative Project in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH)
Last but not least, the summer camp participants of 2006 will get together a third time for a mostly self-organised and financed project in Gorazde. Besides meeting again as a whole group of young adults for the first time since the Reunion of 2007 in Bela Palanka and Tuzla, the projects focus is on working together with handicapped people in a local institution in Gorazde, a bosniak enclave in the East of the Republika Srpska of Bosnia and Hercegovina.

All three projects are currently entering the final stage of preparations, and starting at the end of July, over a hundred young people from Central and Southeast Europe are going to be on the road representing CAMPUS15 and our quest for understanding and cooperation across national, ethnic and religious borders. All three projects are financially supported by the European YOUTH IN ACTION programme. The Summer Camp is also supported by the Youth Ministery of North Rhine Westfalia.

4. The GREAT REUNION in Croatia
Finally in September 2009 there will be a GREAT REUNION in Croatia. Everyone who has ever participated in CAMPUS15 projects since 1998 – Summer Camps in Germany, Reunions in the Western Balkans, Training Course in Germany or Evaluation Meeting in Montenegro – is invited to this Great Reunion in Croatia. The event will take place in the Eco-Centre Latinovac from 4 to 7 September 2009.

The overriding aim of our effort was and still is to promote peace and mutual understanding among the various groups in the Western Balkans in cooperation with young people from Central Europe and to help those countries on their way to the European Union. With the GREAT REUNION seminar the promoters want to find out about the long term effects of such a decade of youth work. We want to exchange experiences and perhaps how our projects may have influenced your way of life, your attitudes, actions and views. Future projects and the support by the YOUTH IN ACTION Programme of the European Union will be discussed as well. At the same time, however, it simply is a GREAT opportunity to meet old friends again and renew and deepen friendships.

Please check the downloads for more information and SIGN UP until the end of June!
